Our History

Building Envelope Technologies (BET) is a rapidly growing test laboratory. BET has grown from one accredited testing service in 2008 to more than 30 accredited testing services over many disciplines.

Today, BET is part of Phenna Group, a portfolio of specialist niche businesses that operate in the global Testing, Inspection, Certification & Compliance (TICC) sector. Being part of Phenna has allowed BET to expand internationally, develop new testing services, and enter new markets.

BET is a well-established business with a team of highly-skilled professionals who understand compliance and independent testing more than any other company in our market.

We have completed compliance testing and consultancy commissions on very large and complex buildings and worked as independent testing consultants with the design team on many high-profile projects in Ireland and the UK.

We understood from the very beginning that offering support and expertise in design, site management, quality control, and specialist training was the key to successfully achieving high levels of building performance.

The company, formed in 2001 and incorporated in 2002, was the first in Ireland to specialise in the area of building and enclosure airtightness.

The need to ‘future-proof’ building performance for subsequent changes in the property and energy markets was, however, acknowledged early on by some developers, engineers, architects, and government departments. BET has subsequently received many repeat appointments on the basis of our early work with these clients.

We have developed an extensive and varied portfolio of projects since 2001 and have extended the range of services we offer to include consultancy, specialist enclosure and product testing, RIAI approved CPD training, building energy ratings, and providing a range of specialist airtight building products.

We are currently involved in research collecting data from re-testing airtight buildings to establish the durability of airtightness performance over time and have been active in contributing to developments in legislation governing the thermal performance of buildings.
